Our Junior 3 had to travel to Fermoy RFC for the second encounter in the Munster Junior 3 League.

It was a hard fought match in which Derek White, Danny Gleeson and Bryan O’Keeffe scored a try each.
A conversion kicked by John Stevenson secured the win over the home side.

Full Time Result: Fermoy RFC 16 – Ballincollig RFC 17

This leaves the Ballincollig RFC Junior 3 team as leaders of the table at the moment.

The Junior 3 Team will continue against Youghal RFC at Tanner Park on the 13th October, kick off 12.00.
Your support would be most welcome.

Weekend 2nd February 2013 Match Reports

Under 17s

Ballincollig 39 Old Christians 7

Ballincollig RFC under 17s opened their phase 2 league campaign with an away win against Old Christians @ Rathcooney on last Sat 2nd Feb. 2013. From the kick off they showed their intent and after winning a good line out they mauled the ball towards Old Christians line for 15 metres and Michael O’Shea broke towards the line and then off loaded to Robert O’Donoghue who crossed the whitewash and opened the scoring after just three minutes. The Ballincollig boys were dominant and after some good rucking the ball was fed to Scott Vaughan at outhalf. He broke the line and after making 20 metres, he passed to the supporting James Nyagaya who touched down for Ballincollig’s second try on 11 minutes and after another 4 minutes, they repeated the act when Aaron Mc Namara crashed through the centre and fed to the flying Shane Quinlan who scored Ballincollig’s third try which Scott Vaughan converted. Ballincollig were very dominant in all sectors of play and on 25 minutes, James Nagoya added to Old Christian’s woes when he scored his second try. To Old Christians credit, they did not give up and on the stroke of half time, they scored good try from a penalty tap, which was also converted to leave the score 22 pts to 7 in Ballincollig’s favour. On the resumption Ballincollig’s dominance continued where they excelled @ Scrum and lineout time where Fionnan Mc Dermott and Robert O’Donoghue were superb in the air and were ably assisted by Dylan Desmond, Peter Kelleher, Robert Nyhan, Michael O’Shea, and Humphrey O’Mahony. Ballincollig started a move from a scrum on Old Christians 10 meter line. Brian Verling fed out to the backs and Aaron O’Flynn came into the line from the full back position and beat two men before touching down for another try, which Scott Vaughan converted. The flying Shane Quinlan added another 10 minutes later and Humphrey O’Mahony finished the scoring with a try on the stroke of full time after some good work again by the forwards. Others to impress were James O’Donnell, Colin Casey, Jack O’Sullivan, Cian Shanahan, Ray Murphy, Daire Buckley, Stephen Mc Grath and Cian O’Leary. It was a great team performance by the Ballincollig boys but stiffer opposition no doubt lies ahead.

They play their second game on next Sat 9th Feb. 2013 at home to Dunmanway who have already beaten them this season.

However the day was not spoilt for the club as we had arranged a reception for our sponsors and members. It was encouraging to see some old friends on the day.
