Ballincollig Women got their league campaign off to a winning start with a 17-5 victory, away to Shannon in a windy Coonagh on Sunday.  First-half tries from Aoife Deasy and Emily Cleary gave the visitors a 10-0 lead before Shannon replied with a try to reduce the gap to 10-5 heading into the break.

A further try from Aoife Deasy in the second half which was converted, despite the difficult weather conditions, by Grace McNamara, sealed the victory for Ballincollig.  Given that this was the first competitive game of rugby for a number of the starting XV, makes for a promising season for the side.

The victory is a great boost ahead of the squads first home game of the season this Sunday, when they take on Young Munster in Tanner Park, kick-off, 1pm.  All support is welcome.
