Under 13s match report: v Highfield 25/01/15

Highfield were the visitors to Tanner’s main pitch for this Sunday morning fixture with a near full attendance from the Collig 13’s.
Highfield kicked off and from then Collig dominated the half with the forwards committed to rucks and mauls in numbers which provided the backs with an endless supply of ball which was then fluidly moved through the hands to our wingers. This was balanced by stiff defence which stopped Highfield with the small amount of possession they had in the half.
It was impressive to watch and entertaining and rewarded suitably with 3 tries and 1 conversion to no reply. Tries were by Paraic O’Keeffe and 2 by Patrick Kelly and the conversion by Shane Buckley.
With changes made at half time the guys kept up the pressure but Highfield had raised their game and produced a more consistent display to test Collig.
Liam McGarry got in for a try to maintain his good record. Midway through the half a Highfield player produced a magical weaving run from the halfway line which resulted in a try, and so the second half ended 1-1, 4-1 in total to Collig.
Special mention to Oisin O’Grady who excelled in the new position at centre and also Chris Moran who had some great runs and deserved a try but just fell short.
The team was well captained by Pairic O’Keeffe leading by example and we look forward to the next fixture to be arranged.
Well done all.
Training continues next Wednesday at 6.30.
