Ballincollig defeated Cill Dara 10-7. Skipper Ger Gallahue scored Ballincollig’s try and Lizzie Kelly kicked a conversion and a penalty to bring the trophy back to Tanner Park for the first time since 2006.

Well done to anybody involved in the team, especially to the coach Herbie Geary.

Ballincollig was host to the Claire side Scariff RFC on Sunday 09.02.2014.
The visitors traveled far only to see their highest defeat in this season yet.
Brian O’Mahony got the opening score after just 3 minutes while the conversion was missed.
Kevin Doyle went over for the second try of the match just 7 minutes later and missed his own conversion.
Another 4 minute later we saw another very good interplay among the backs which saw Dave Power going over for his first try of the match, Kevin Doyle converting this time around.
Ballincollig was penalized for being offside just in front of the posts and in their 22, Scariff took the chance and converted the resulting kick after 18 minutes of play.
The scrum was dominated by Ballincollig RFC, as was the lineout in fact. The home side once again drove over the ball in a scrum and Denis Casey had a clear line break from the a ruck and going over for his try in the 21st minute.
Ballincollig RFC kept on being the dominating side and again it was the backs department who showed lovely hands, seeing Dave Power going over for his second try under the up-rights, Kevin Doyle once again added the extras.
Just 3 minutes later we saw Danny Gleeson going over the white wash with strength and 2 defenders hanging off him, while Kevin Doyle added the extras once again.
Our captain Shane Kavanagh scored the 7th try just on the brink of half time, with Kevin Doyle converting again. This left the team on 43 – 3 in favor for the home side.
The second half was a bit slower in the end, lots of knock-ons, forward passes and penalties interrupted the play on numerous occasions and disrupted an until then flowing game. It was after 13 minutes into the second half when Dave Power tapped a quick penalty at the opposition 5 meter line, spotted a gap in the defense and made it count for his 3rd try of the match.
Another well executed lineout got a rolling maul going which was driven over the line and Danny Gleeson grounding the ball for his second try in the 59th minute.
It took the hosts another ten minutes, but then we saw another beautiful interplay among the backs in narrow space, while Richard Dineen saw the better of the defenders in the 70th minute and going over for a 58 -3 score line.
Denis Casey competed legally in an opposition ruck at center field and kicking the ball free far behind the attackers, David Lucey and Andy Coughlan were chasing the ball while beating 2 defenders in speed, kicking it forward twice, right underneath the posts, when Dave Lucey picked it up and dived it over for the 11th try of the match. Kevin Doyle converted yet again when the referee blew the final whistle.

Brothers Sean, Orrain & Paul McGarry created a little bit of history in a recent match against Midleton.  It was the first time that three brothers have lined out for the same Ballincollig team together.  In addition, younger brother Liam lines out for the Ballincollig U12’s.

Congrats lads and well done!

Our Junior 3 had to travel to Fermoy RFC for the second encounter in the Munster Junior 3 League.

It was a hard fought match in which Derek White, Danny Gleeson and Bryan O’Keeffe scored a try each.
A conversion kicked by John Stevenson secured the win over the home side.

Full Time Result: Fermoy RFC 16 – Ballincollig RFC 17
