Well done lads we are only warming up.
Under 12s
Ballincollig v Crosshaven
Ballincollig travelled to Crosshaven on yet another dry but cold Saturday morning. Both squads had healthy numbers so two separate games took place at the same time. Both games went the way of Ballincollig, our lads showing more intensity in the tackle all over the pitch. Our ability to find the gaps in the Crosshaven defence led to some good individual tries. Effort could not be faulted by all on show. Some tougher tests to come but all in all a good mornings work by the Ballincollig men.
Under 13s
Ballincollig v Muskerry
The U-13s had a great start against a very strong Muskerry side, winning our own kick off and putting Muskerry under pressure right from the start. Both sets of forwards battled bravely for 30 minutes with no side gaining the upper hand. Our front row of James Moore, Kieran O Driscoll and Cian Bradley did a great job in the scrums and rucks. In the second half Muskerry changed tactics and started to run the ball wide and ran in 3 un answered tries. Solid performances by Liam McGeough, Conor Coughlan and Zak Forde kept Ballincollig competing until the whistle. We look forward to playing Old Christians next week. Well done lads. New members always welcome
Under 15s
Ballincollig 5 v Bantry 5
Ballincollig under 15s added another point to their league tally with a drawn game against Bantry in Tanner Park last Saturday. This was a very competitive and entertaining game with some great rugby played by both teams. Ballincollig got the better of the scrums but Bantry were stronger in the lineouts and both backlines showed good attacking and defensive skills. This game was so tight there was no score till the last 20 mins of the game where Ballincollig scored an unconverted try in the corner which came from the forwards who set up the ball for the backs to score. With five minutes to go Bantry scored an unconverted try after applying good pressure inside the Ballincollig 22 meter line to level the score and the game. It is very encouraging to see how this young Ballincollig team is developing both in performance and character. Ballincollig are off to Crosshaven next week to get the win.

Under 15
Ballincollig 7 v Highfield 11
We were at home to Highfield this week, and expected a very eager contest. We started off by putting them under pressure, which resulted in us being awarded a penalty, but were unable to take the points. The miss was felt all the more when they put a few fazes together to score a try, although they missed the conversion. Our luck was short lived, our discipline let us down and they were awarded and converted a penalty. With half time looming we lifted our heads, worked it up the middle and scored under the post and landed the conversion. We kept the pressure up in the second half, but couldn’t hold on the any type of possession. Highfield were defending well, and were awarded a penalty, which was converted to leave us four points behind. We put enormous pressure on to get the try we needed to win, but it never came. Great commitment from the squad, a game we could and should have won, we let slip away from us.

Ballincollig played host to Corca Dhuibhne (Dingle) in the Martin O’Sullivan Cup at Tanner Park.
Ballincollig took a while to settle into the game, but eventually got some quality ball, and after 15mins they got a good try from Podge O’Flynn. They went further ahead with and Andy Coughlan try.
After 37mins Glen Murphy scored a try from some strong forward play, and it was converted by Denis Galvin to make the score 17pts to nil.
The Dingle pack made Ballincollig work very hard in the loose and line out areas.
At the stroke of half time Shane Kavanagh scored a try in the corner leaving the score 22pts to nil.
Ballincollig made several changes at the break and with 2 further tries from Podge O’Flynn
and one try from Podge Bohane all converted by Kevin Ryan.
Dingle did score a try under the posts from some poor tackling by the hosts.
Dingle added a further 3pts when we conceded a penalty. The final score was Ballincollig 43pts Corca Dhuibhne 10pts.
Conor Owens, Shane Kavanagh, and Fergal Considine had a good day in the forwards.
While Podge O’Flynn with 3 tries Brian Mahony and Andy Coughlan again stood out in the
back line. A good alround game was played by Ballincollig RFC.
