Women’s Munster Cup Result – Fermoy RFC 0 Ballincollig RFC 10

Ballincollig Women got their Munster Cup campaign off to a winning start with a hard fought victory away to Fermoy at The Showgrounds on Saturday.

Starting the half well they found themselves inside the Fermoy 22 within the opening few minutes.  A great line out steal from Roisin Ormond and the ball was spread out to the backs with Grace McNamara getting under the posts for a try.  Breda Leonard added the extras.

The pitch conditions made things difficult for both sides and Ballincollig battled hard to retain their lead throughout.  The only other points coming from a well kicked penalty from Breda Leonard on the final whislte.

Ballincollig have also been grouped with fellow Division 2 South teams, Shannon RFC and Nenagh Ormond RFC and Division 1 Champions UL Bohemian RFC.

Up next is a home tie against Shannon this Sunday.  Having been defeated at home by the Limerick side in the opening league game of the season, they will be seeking a victory this time around.

Kick off on Sunday is 1pm followed by the Mens Munster Junior Cup fixture between Ballincollig and Muskerry at 2:30pm.  Come along and show your support for both teams in their cup ties.
